"Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete."

Prayer Ministry

Our prayer ministry seeks to intercede on behalf of anyone who makes a prayer request known to us. This includes members in crisis, people who are ill, many emergency situations, and for needs given to us by church leaders, ministry leaders and others within our church family.

Our church and its ministries are prayed for regularly in general, and for specific needs as the Spirit leads.

We encourage those who are specially gifted, to pray in their areas of passion and to create a spirit of prayer throughout our church by supporting, initiating, teaching and participating in prayer teams.

We encourage each other to pray:

  • intentionally in our times of Scripture reading and personal reflection,
  • with each other spontaneously while chatting, during a phone call, in a personal note of encouragement, and
  • in our small groups, supporting each other as we share our personal concerns and needs.

We pray for special needs

  • during our congregational worship times and when we organise other times of prayer for the whole church,
  • when prayer is offered for individuals by our prayer ministry team following our worship services,
  • when prayer requests are handed in at our worship services, and
  • by our prayer chain in response to urgent prayer requests.

Prayer for healing

The ministry of healing in our church takes place in a number of ways:

  • laying on of hands in a worship service or towards the close of communion.
  • anointing with oil and prayer in the home of a person who is sick, with members of their family and members of our prayer team. Normally this prayer for healing is requested by the person who is sick or by their family in response to James 5: 14 "Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord ... their prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make them well."
  • request for the ministry of prayer by a patient in a hospital. This prayer will be offered after consultation with hospital staff. Prayer will be offered for the person concerned, hospital staff and other patients.
